Here. We. Go!
It’s been a couple of months of biting my tongue while all the final details were hammered out and contracts inked, but I’m thrilled to announce that The Marriage Pact trilogy has been picked up by St. Martin’s Press/Macmillan Entertainment. They have bought the English-language publication rights to all three books and the film/TV rights as well. (I know, right??)
The bad news — well, for those of you who might have landed here on my blog recently having not yet read the books — is that all three of the books have been taken down from amazon, nook, smashwords and other locations until Fall of 2015 (when TMP will make its second big debut). The good news is that they’ll be back with a little more polish and shine than before and available in more places.
Needless to say, this is a GINORMOUS thrill for me. And, wow. Spell check recognized “ginormous.” Does that mean it’s officially part of our language? Okay, sorry, ADD moment. Shiny object! What?
Coming from a background of self-publishing is a point of both pride and practicality for me, so you can imagine that I knew very little about traditional publishing when this process started the Atlanta Writer’s Conference back in April. That’s where I met the lovely editor Nicole Sohl from ME and pitched her the concept for the trilogy, which I felt had untapped potential I can’t feasibly reach on my own. When she loved the books and extended an offer a few months later, I suddenly had a few short days to find an agent to help me understand what I was getting into. I landed like an airborne chihuahua in the laps of Beth Phelan and Jenny Bent at The Bent Agency, and they have both been so wonderful. In fact, everyone has been pretty wonderful throughout the process, a nice bonus since I had no idea what to expect.
So right this moment we are working on some minor edits to The Marriage Pact (you know, adding some explosions and flesh-eating robots and stuff). The release will be sometime next fall, with the other two books to follow shortly thereafter. I am also working hard to bring you some new stuff to read as well.
Until that happens, though, I am now in a strange period of my career where the only book I have available is in German. Maybe I can befriend David Hasselhoff. I mean, he’s already photo-bombing me…
I want to ginormously (NOT yet a word, apparently) thank everyone who has read, reviewed, shared, and supported the books over the last three years. You guys are the best fans, friends and family a girl could ask for.
More fun stuff coming soon!
